The Jacobs Sheep was named after Jacob of the Old Testament. These were one of the first breeds to be domesticated over 3000 years ago. Pictorial evidence traces their movement from Syria through North Africa, Sicily, Spain and England. The Jacob is a small to medium size breed. They are carriers of the polycerate gene, which causes the animals to produce two, four or sometimes even six horns in both rams and ewes. These majestic and handsome creatures are ideal for the small flock owner or large breeder. S. Baum
